WHO I AM AND WHY I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THIS TOPIC
I am a sixth grade student (I was a sixth grade student when I started this website) who, from when I was very young, was very outspoken. When I grew older, I started to defend women and girls without realizing what I was doing. I called boys sexist for saying girls weren't as good as boys, as smart as boys, as strong as boys. I told them off for saying things that were discriminating gender. I blabbed on and on about girls rights when it was brought up.
It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I realized I was supporting something called feminism. Now, I support feminism completely and follow multiple feminists on social media. Recently, I have also attended one of the Women's Marches held across the country, and the people who spoke there were very empowering and inspiring. I got to make signs, and see other people's signs, which were very creative. There was also an amazing bond with everyone. No one was shouting, cussing, or talking dirty. Everyone was laughing and parading down the streets as bystanders stood on the side and watched. It wasn't until then that I truly realized how much I enjoyed standing up for feminism.
So when my wonderful Language Arts teacher said that we could choose a social issue to research and make a project on, I of course chose feminism.
Many of my classmates most likely had predicted that before I even mentioned it, because I had the tendency to speak up about feminism whenever something about girl's rights or boys overpowering girls came up. I was slightly known for speaking about it, and being a feminist myself. I truly love the whole idea of feminism, and with all my heart, support it. Which is why I decided to create a website based off of my love for feminism, and spread the word.
ABOUT SHEROXS
sheroxs is a website made so girls and boys, young and old, can see all perspectives. sheroxs is a website crafted around feminism, a major social issue. Before questioning it's name (an alternate spelling of "she rocks"), I am not saying that girls are better than boys, but that boys and girls are equal. So if you are second guessing feminists and the definition of feminism, you must know that sometimes the only way to succeed in a mission is to make it so you achieve a little more than your goal.
WHAT I'M FOCUSED ON
I am focused on spreading the word that feminism isn't a minor issue, but a big one nowadays.
I'm also focused on making known that you don't have to be a woman or girl to become a feminist, but a boy or male too! So if you're a boy or man reading this, don't be afraid to make a change in our equality.
ABOUT THE BACKGROUND
The wallpaper used for the top of this website is actually part of Iceland. Iceland has been proclaimed as the most feminist country in the world for the second time. If our whole world had feminism like Iceland, we would live in a much more equal place.
